WCC Program Coordinator Position

The Whiteaker Community Council is currently hiring for the position of Program Coordinator. The WCC Program Coordinator actively works toward the Whiteaker Community Council’s mission of supporting the Whiteaker Neighborhood. The main responsibilities of the Program Coordinator are:

1. To recruit and schedule volunteers; and
2. To plan, manage, and run community events, especially Covid-19 Vaccine Clinics,

among others.

Strong organizational and interviewing skills are required. This successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to identify needs, recruit, assess, and place volunteers to meet WCC Board goals. Record keeping, attending meetings with Lane County Public Health, Oregon Health Authority, and reporting to the WCC Board will all be required of this position. The Program Coordinator will be involved in grant processes, specifically: maintaining compliance within current grants and helping to identify future grants that will advance the WCC mission. The WCC Program Coordinator will aid the Whiteaker Community Council in keeping Whiteaker a thriving place for all to live, work, and play. During the probationary 2 month period, either the WCC BOD or the candidate may end this contract for any reason with or without cause.

Contractor – Whiteaker Community Council- A Non-Profit Neighborhood Community Council

The Whiteaker Community Council’s (WCC) mission is supporting the Whiteaker Neighborhood. The WCC board is composed of a team of dedicated volunteers who are elected by the Whiteaker community, and provide an enriching experience and an opportunity to work with the artists, businesses, and residents (housed and unhoused) in the Whiteaker community. Board members consist of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and 11 At Large voting members. There is a general meeting the 2nd Wednesday of each month and a Board meeting the 3rd Wednesday of the month.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities of Program Coordinator

  • Coordinate events- Covid clinics, Last Friday-Art walks, August-Ice Cream Social, Neighborhood clean ups, etc.
  • Oversee all aspects of volunteer program development and administration including: o Recruitment o Screening
    o Training
    o Placement
    o Supervision of volunteers
    o Volunteer appreciation
    o Ability to transport self to job-related events and education locations
  • Flexible hours required, including some mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Provide positive professional references and consent to background check (“Please know that convictions will only negatively affect an application if they relate to the job.”

Organized Event Record Keeping

  • Design and implement a sustainable plan for on-going recruitment
  • Manage volunteers for WCC events
  • Keep records of volunteers and their hours
  • Record number of attendees at WCC events

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred live, work, own property, or volunteer in the Whiteaker neighborhood
  • Three years of volunteer and/or related work experience
  • Background in recruiting/training/supervising volunteers in nonprofit organizations
  • Familiarity with grants and grant writing process.

Self Manager

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Intermediate computer skills-Microsoft suite, Google suite, Data entry and reports, etc…

Interpersonal Skills

  • Skillful and comfortable with public speaking and presentation
  • Sensitive to issues of confidentiality and diversity
  • Ability to adapt to changes in plans or events
  • Ability to work and communicate with diverse groups and individuals

Working Conditions, Travel and Environment

The WCC Program Coordinator will work from their own home or office space. The duties of this job require individuals be able to work in non-traditional and community-based settings

• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends

• Ability to transport self to job-related events and locations
• The duties of this job require regular attendance at meetings
• Willingness to assist with other tasks as directed by the WCC board
